Site Planning - A Definition

Site Planning is a methodology to develop land for human use. Site development occurs every time humans interact with the land to adapt it to their uses, such as the placement of structures and roads. The way development is achieved reflects their cultural values.

In a broad sense, site planning is an interdisciplinary activity. The scientific aspects encompass environmental science and engineering while the visually creative aspects of site planning require the perception and creation of outdoor spaces, building masses, formulation of land use through economic evaluation and the orchestration of spatial human activities and circulation.
